Playground Wood Chips

Playground Wood Chips are derived from clean soft wood and are screened to 1/2” minus*. Playground Wood Chips meet or exceed the requirements of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's and American Standard Testing Methods (ASTM) technical guidelines for Playground Wood Chips. Playground Wood Chips have been used for many years now at community parks, school playgrounds and for family home play boxes. Playground Wood Chips can also be used as a groundcover or for pathways. When used as a mulch, Playground Wood Chips help to conserve water, lower soil temperature, and reduce weed growth.

PRODUCT APPLICATION:

Recommended application for Playground Wood Chips used as groundcover is 2 to 4 inches deep.
When used in a play area, the Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends installation at a depth of 1 inch per each potential 1 foot of fall. This measurement is equal to the height of the tallest piece of playground equipment added to the height of the tallest child. For example, a 7-foot high slide plus a 4-foot tall child would require a minimum depth of 11 inches of Playground Wood Chips. If a swing set is part of the playground equipment, 12 inches of Playground Wood Chips are required.
Note: As a matter of safety, it is important to maintain the recommended depth in all areas, particularly in high traffic areas where the material may be kicked aside and can become thin.
