Blended Soils
Blended soils are made by combining recycled organic material with sand, soil or other products to form a growing medium. Blended soils may supply nutrients, increase moisture and nutrient holding capacity and can help drainage.
Screened Topsoil
Screened Topsoil is a non-amended sandy loam topsoil free of roots, clods, and stones larger than 3/8” with 99% passing through a 3/8” screen.
San Diego Select Garden Soil
San Diego Select Garden Soil is 50% sandy loam topsoil amended 50% by volume with organic components consisting of long lasting A-1 Lifelike™ 3/8” Compost, perlite, peat moss, coir, and nitrogen fortified redwood shavings. This mix-ture of mineral and organic components provides exceptional plant support and enhanced nutrient-holding capabilities, as well as beneficial humus for plant growth and development.
A-1 Blend Amended Topsoil
A-1 Blend Topsoil is 70% sandy loam amended 30% by volume with Organic Fines, an organic component that improves soil texture and helps retain moisture.
A-1 Planter Mix
A-1 Planter Mix is a blend of washed sand, organic fines, A-1 Lifelike™ 3/8” Compost, peat moss and aqua gro (a wetting agent to enhance the mixtures ability to absorb water). This soil is relatively lightweight due to its high organic content and extremely low clay content. Although it has a superior percolation rate, its water and nutrient holding ability greatly reduces leaching of valuable plant nutrients and minerals.
A-1 "Queen of Show" Potting Mix
A-1 “Queen of Show” Potting Mix is a lightweight blend of nitrogen fortified redwood shavings, peat moss, coir, perlite, & aqua gro (a wetting agent to enhance the mixtures ability to absorb water). The components allow for a light friable planting medium with excellent soil porosity.
A-1 Bioretention Soil Mix
A-1 Bioretention Soil Mix is a blend of 80% washed coarse sand and 20% sandy loam topsoil. The blended material is low in silt and clay which allows the material to perform at the required minimum drainage properties of ˃ 5” per hour KSat Perc Rate @ 85% relative compaction. This satisfies civil engineering requirements while maintaining the agronomical properties of a well graded sand with silt to satisfy the landscape architect’s desire to support growth of plant material. Clay content is limited to provide a minimum cation exchange capacity for healthy plant material if desired.

A-1 Structural Soil
A-1 Structural Soil is a gap graded soil uniformly blended of crushed stone, sandy clay loam,
organics, Gypsum and PAM(polyacrylamide/propenoate-propenamide copolymer) which helps prevent the separation of soil and stone during mixing and installation. A-1 Structural Soil is used to create a solid base under pavement allowing tree roots to grow through the soil pockets resulting in a healthy long life for trees while supporting mases. The mix retains a void to allow for water and air movement and gives room for root growth.
