Compost and Recycling
A-1 Soils operates a five acre composting facility at our Lakeside, CA location in East County San Diego. Every year we accept and compost over 10,000 yards of horse bedding and manure. We are proud to help the State of California divert this material from our local landfills and turn it into one of the finest soil amendments in San Diego County. The finished product is enjoyed by local nurseries, homeowners, landscapers, the San Diego Rose Society, school districts, and local municipalities. Our A-1 Lifelike Compost is used as a soil amendment, turf topdressing, & mulch.
Our recycle locations in San Diego County allow contractors and homeowners divert and recycle over 200,000 tons of concrete and asphalt from our local land fills. The end products from the recycling of the concrete and asphalt provides an end product that is an economical means of rebuilding our roads and infrastructure. Contractors and homeowners that recycle their concrete and asphalt at our locations are eligible for LEED credits through the State of California.
Recycled aggregates are produced by crushing and screening previously used concrete and asphalt. The reclaimed aggregates are generally used as fill or base materials for roads, sidewalks and concrete slabs. Martin Marietta offers recycled aggregates in select markets, mainly on the West Coast.
